W.A.S Rehearsal

I'm really enjoying these rehearsals. It's been awhile since I've done a show where the format wasn't improv or sketch. We do get to improvise within the scenes, but then it's written down. A method that is actually pretty common here. It's really fun too, because everyone's character has a piece of the actors voice.
My character is trying to be the next Ashlee Simpson.

Purchase from Celery Street

The last few months of unemployment have helped me realize that I wasn't taking very good care of myself. So I started making little changes - taking vitamins, yoga, volunteering, changing my diet, etc. Changing my diet was a big one, I have a digestive disorder that is difficult to manage at times. Partly because of my busy busy life, I was always eating what was quick and available. But once things slowed down it was easy to make changes.
Now things are picking up with weekly temp assignments and I'm finding it hard to balance being on the go and taking time to eat right and get in exercise. Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up, it's just hard to have time for everything.
For some reason, taking better care of myself lead to research on many things, which ended with me making some 'green' purchases. Water filters, an umbrella recycled from water bottles (how do they DO that?), biodegradeable soap, sulfate free shampoo, etc. I wasn't expecting to make that change, but it happened. The results haven't been bad either - you should feel my hair.

The Fourth of July

Adal hosted a bbq on the fourth. It was held outside, but eventually the rain forced us inside for a rousing game on the Wii.
The night before I went to karaoke at the bar acrossthe street. It is hosted by our upstairs neighbor, who was happy we came but did not seem to care for my song choice ( Chasey Lain by The Bloodhound Gang). In all fairness, it was pretty inappropriate.

Costume Testing

Last night was my second rehearsal with the WAS cast. I'm pretty excited about the show, there are some super funny and talented ladies. The show is a musical about a 90's girl group that reunites years later. I am playing the daughter of one of the band members.
Our director, Ashley, gave us costume homework. I've started testing hair options. I really like the faux hawk, but I'm still testing some other things out.

Brown Line to the Loop.

In the summer I try to take the train as much as possible.
Since people are out more and there are many Cubs games, it's usually easier than driving. Especially now that parking meter rates have gone up. Honestly, who carries 3 dollars in quarters with them at all times?

Last night I used the train to head to The Playground for an All Skate show. We ended up having a great show, definitely one of our best. The team is starting to really gel and I think we have our new coach, George, to thank for that. Unfortunately he wasn't at the show last night, so he didn't get to see the work paying off.

After a quick drink, I raced home to catch the Messiest Home in the Country special on Style. It was hor-rif-ic. Spoiler Alert: There was so much stuff in this tiny house that they had to rent an empty department store to have the yard sale. I watch the show on a regular basis, but this was the very first time I have seen someone have a room that was wall to wall, floor to ceiling, packed with clutter.

Here is the BEFORE of their basement:
(The picture doesn't really even do it justice, there was literally no where to move when they were in there.)

And here is the AFTER:

If you see that they are re-running this special (or any of the 6 runner up episodes), have a watch. It will give you a sudden urge to clean out your closet. At least, that's what I did.

The L&L

Last night The Rabble had our last show with Tim. He is moving back to Texas and then on to LA in a few years.
We had a super fun show, but it's sad to see Tim leave. He & I trained together at Four Day Weekend and then moved here at about the same time. We went through iO and The Annoyance together. I know I will still get to see him when I visit Texas, but it will be weird to not see him here.
He and I have had some of my all time favorite improv scenes and I think I will be pitching one of them for the house ensemble review. With Tim's blessing of course.

So goodbye Tim, drive safe, and I will miss you.
