Parrots

A friend asked me to be part of a Bat for a podcast.
We did the recording tonight and afterwards had some drinks at Parrots.

When we arrived, the reaction of the bartender was welcoming but the patrons didn't look happy. Soon after we settled in, they all left.
We were not a rowdy group or even loud, but somehow we killed their party.

Sculpture at DFW airport

Waiting in the airport for my flight to board.
The flight before mine (to Toronto) was delayed, ours was as well. I'm not sure if it was because we shared a terminal with them or not.

I overheard the Toronto passengers discussing their delay.
P1: They said it's because someone tampered with the safety seals, so now they have to replace all of them.
P2: [Annoyed sigh.]
P3: Well how LONG is it going to BE?

Excuse me? Someone tampered with your plane and your concern is the delay? If this was my plane I would say take all the time you need, take all day. I might not even get on the plane now.

I don't know how long it ended up taking, because my flight switched gates. I assume that everything was fine.

Four Day Weekend

I went to see the Four Day guys late show, but it turned out they had an even later show for a graduation buy out.
I talked them for a bit, but then they had to scurry away before the kids showed up.
It was nice to see them, if only for a moment.

Charlie

Adal left this morning, he had too many shows that he couldn't miss. While he was here, he made friends with my old dog, Charlie. Quite a feat, since she dislikes most people. (Yes, Charlie is a girl. It short for Charlotte.)

I am staying for the rest of the weekend, so I can do family things.
Today my Mom & I did girly stuff; pedicures & shopping. It was adorable.

Four Day Weekend

The reason Adal & I stayed in Texas was so we could perform a three person show here with Tim.
Tim & I both studied long form improv at Four Day before moving to Chicago. Getting to come back and do a show after being away for 3 years was a wonderful experience. Especially since most of my family hasn't been able to see any of my shows.
We had a good show and the response was overwhelming. I can't explain how wonderful it was to have my family and friends enjoy the show.

Main Event

Tonight Adal met up with his Dad, so I took the opportunity to hang out with my brother.
We headed to Main Event - a place that I had completely forgotten about. They have laser tag, bowling, arcade games, pool, etc.
It was fun to get to spend some alone time with him, he can be shy around other people.

During the day Adal & I did a 2-man performance for my of high school. Kendal, the wonderful theater teacher, even pulled my brother out of class to watch. It was a fun show and the kids seemed to enjoy it. Of course, they might have just enjoyed not having to do class work.

The Fort Worth Zoo

The rest of ITI left for Chicago on Monday, leaving Adal & I to do Texas activities by ourselves.
Today we spent most of our time at the Fort Worth Zoo.
I can't remember the last time I was here.

It was great, except that all the trash cans were full of bees. Bees terrify me, ever since my mom had a swarm sting her on the face and neck. She's not allergic, but it made her sick.
So everytime we passed a trash can I had to run past it like an idiot. It probably didn't help that I was also yelling "BEES!".

During the 4 hour drive back to Fort Worth, we continued our time honored tradition of 'play pranks on Dan'.

That's his pillow in Matty's pants.

Our second day teaching at Howard College.

Early on in the day the water main at the school broke- a common occurence from what I understand.
So the evening performance had to be cancelled. Apparently paying customers like to be able to use the bathroom.
Despite this, we continued our workshops with the addition of a Diamond Dance break to keep spirits up.

We also struck a deal to have the performance go on with the students performing for each other. We also played with them. It was super lid back and fun. All of the kids grew so much in just 2 days.

After the shows we were invited to a house party, which we attended and enjoyed immensely.

Howard College, Big Spring TX

Another fun Texas trip for Insult to Injury to teach improv to theater kids.
We left late Thursday night and didn't get in til 4am...then we were up by 7 to go teach.

Despite being tired we had a blast teaching. As always, the kids at this school are unbelievably talented.

At the end of the day we performed a Harold for students only. We were pretty exhausted and wired from Red Bull, but the show was fun. Our suggestion was the highly-coveted 'Zombie'.

Hello spider in my shower.
I didn't notice you until it was too late.
Now I have to crane my neck while I rinse shampoo, to make sure you don't jump on me.
