Photography Studio

Yesterday I had my headshots taken. My other one was well, old.

The photographer was great and now I'm faced with an awful dilemma - I don't know which one to chose. At all. It's a little overwhelming. Plus after looking at so many pictures of just my face, I start to feel crazy.

The Annoyance.

Tonight George threw a benefit for his cousin, Tony.

After coming back from Iraq Tony was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given roughly a year to live. The benefit raised money so that he can travel and see his family in the next year. It was a wonderful thing to see so many people come together and help.

The most money was raised from an auction that Jeff Garlin put up - a walk-on role with Curb Your Enthusiasm. The top 2 contenders were a gentleman who was at the theater and another one who was bidding on the phone. Both seemed unsure that the other one was real. In the end, phone guy won after saying "What the hell, I've lost more money in one night at Vegas".

If you're just hearing about this and want to donate, The Annoyance still has their online donation page up here.

The Playground

Last night I played with All Skate & participated as one of the coaches for Open Court.

Open Court is a lot of fun, a mixture of improvisers come out and do a show together. Some have never even improvised before, but they get up and rock out.
I always have a great time. So you know, I guess this is me plugging it. Thursdays at 10:30. Plug.

Previously on...

It's back. I'm excited.
Sort of spoiler alert:

I tried to look up some stuff online about time travel and physics. I was directed to the website from some LOST website. It gave me a headache.

I will just trust that Daniel knows what he's talking about and will explain it in the simplest way possible.

"Think of the island like a record..."

Ginger's Ale House

Tonight I did a random barprov show with Andi & Timmy. It was the first time we had ever performed together and it was definitely fun.

It's funny to think that when I first moved here, about 3 nights a week I was performing in a different random bar. Now it's not even once a month. The barprov scene is interesting and you definitely learn the hard way how to do a good show in a (sometimes) awful enviroment.

Fortunately the audience at Ginger's was nothing but lovely.

Blue Jay by Shane Green

Shane is my brother. He's almost 16 and he friggin drew that. All I can draw are stick figures. It's not the aforementioned drawing for the contest however.
This was a gift to our Grandmother for her birthday. It beats the macaroni pictures I used to make. For sure.

Menu at the Golden Angel. The pinkish blob reads 'Our ham is off the bone.'

Years of hearing the phrase 'off the hook' leads me to believe this menu advertisment is the restaurants way of speaking to the youth.

Snow Car.

A mild-mannered and admittedly sarcastic Texas girl lost in a world of snow. The likes of which she has never seen. Oh, such horrors.
In light of these atrocities, she does not leave the house for 3 days...

Photo Booth at Holiday Club.

Tonight was Sadieh's birthday party and it was loads of fun.

PLUS I had my first BLT since the NY vomiting incident...and I did not throw up. To you that may not seem like a big deal, but it really was. I thought I might be forever traumatized from that sandwich event.

Another day, a new haircut.

The no job thing isn't all bad - I have time to get the new headshots I desperately need. Hence the haircut.
Plus I got a paying gig in Texas, it's not til February but it means I get to go home & see my family for free.

My brother is entering a contest with some of his art, I don't want to post the picture he's using until after the contest is over, just in case. But it's pretty awesome, I'm super proud of him.

HouseCo Rehearsal

The last 2 weeks HouseCo has done an improv set to get some new ideas for bits. Both shows were just great and nearly sold out to boot.
I'm not sure when we will settle down into a specific running order, but right now I am really enjoying the different stuff we are trying.

For awhile I think we were all sort of nervous, but Norm never seemed worried. Granted, I have never seen Norm worried. I'm not sure he can be.

If any of you friendies would like to come see this show (or Twisty) let me know & I can get comps. Oh and if you see me cringe at any point during the show it's because Nick is playing on a broken ankle and shouldn't be jumping around like that.

Late at night.

I have not been sleeping well. Or at all.
Not having much to do during the day doesn't sap enough of my energy, I guess.

So I just catch up on tv shows that I haven't seen.
I recently discovered Psych, which is a great, great show. I recommend it.
The only downside is that I was laughing so hard around 5am that it woke Adal up. Whoops.

New Year's Eve

As has become a tradition, Adal & I went out to a nice dinner for New Year's. This year it was at Tanoshi, a sushi place in Andersonville.
Have you ever been to Tanoshi? It's amazing. You don't have to order off the menu - you can ask for the Chef Mike special, which is their chef custom making sushi to your liking.
The last time we went I said I liked shrimp and lemon and he made the best sushi I have ever had in my life.
This time was just as fantastic.

Later we met some friends back at Adal's and some of them did shots of scorpion vodka. That's vodka that has been distilled with scorpions inside it. I took some reaction pictures, but on Adal's camera. Hopefully I will be able to post them soon.
Needless to say, they didn't look happy. The label on the bottle reads that it is "an acquired taste".
