A McCain Supporter & Mick Napier

Saturday I went to The Annoyance to see Splatter Theater. It was great & has consistently been one of my favorite shows here.
At the end of the show, Mick got up to talk about the history and such and happened to ask if everyone was voting for Obama. The crowd erupted into applause and cheers. Then he asked if anyone was voting for McCain. One man in the front row raised his hand and Mick invited him on stage to talk about his views.
He had actually done research and wasn't just some idiot. But after awhile some heckling started and Mick had him sit back down. Even though I don't agree at all with his views, I have to say - it's pretty brave to get up on stage and talk about something that literally no one else in the room agreed with. And his date was mortified.

After the show, the cast has to come up and clean the blood offstage for the next show. I took the liberty of capturing Nick Ehart. Enjoy.

Rabble Rehearsal.

Last night we worked on group scenes.
It was super mega fun.
I'm excited about the team and everything in that area feels super positive right now. I'm so happy that I won't jinx it by saying anything else. Just yay. Yay!

Bengston's Pumpkin Farm.

Adal & I spent most of Sunday at the pumpkin farm, eating funnel cake & petting alpacas. It was way more crowded than last year - tons of screaming children were running around while their mothers halfheartedly tried to stop them.

As I was sitting on a bench outside waiting for Adal to go through the food line, this kid was running around chaotically, ignoring his mother.
He would start to sneak off and she would say 'Junior, come back.'
But he would ignore her. 'Junior come back.' He continued to ignore her.
Then she would get up to pursue him and he would run away, dodging her.
'Junior stop that.'
This went on for 10 minutes or more.
Then he ran towards me. So I stuck my foot out, hitting him in the shin and slowing him enough for his mother to grab him.
So yeah, I kicked a kid. He didn't even notice.

Another Twisty meeting.
It was supposed to be a rehearsal, running through a couple of our sketch ideas, but since Norm wasn't there it ended up being sit-around and go over ideas.
Then we started talking about changing the name of the group, since Twisty is the improvising house ensemble and we will now be the sketch review house ensemble.

Me: What about BoxCo, is that taken?
Danielle: I like GayCo, let's be GayCo.
Josh: How about MainStageCo?

After 15 more minutes of equally awful bits, I think we settled on HouseCo.

Everybody Have Fun Tonight

Photobucket
On Sunday I saw Tim Meadows improvise with Joe Canale & Brad Morris.

It was pretty outstanding, I really like watching shows where you can tell that everyone on stage loves each other. I think it makes the shows more fun, both for the audience and the performer. Something I have noticed a lot lately is a team looking like they are sad. You guys, stop that.
If you're not having fun, just lick someone that's on stage. It works, I promise.

And there's the pitch...

On Saturday we had our first pitch meeting for the Twisty sketch show.

Not everyone could make it and we lost one of our cast members, Drew Korb, to his new job with Mission Improvable. But he was definitely there in spirit.

Danielle: So the war is happening and then Sergeant Slaughter comes out...
Adal: Wait. Was that Drew's idea?
Danielle: ...yeah. Well it's both of our idea.
Me: The second you say 'Sergeant Slaughter' it kind of gives it away.

Scaling Back

For reasons I can't quite explain, I have always wanted a lizard.
I don't know how to take care of one or have any of the equiment to do so. I just really, really want one.
Not just any lizard either, some of them just sit and stare at you. But this little guy came running over to the glass and pawed at it. Like a reptilian puppy that desperately wanted to play with me.
Or maybe he was just hungry.

Sick of This

That's me, killing Mel.

The Halloween show opened on Friday and was well-received. I mean, really. The audience was super into it, which made it a lot more fun.

Friday was also my official birthday, and I took the day off from work to really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I was (and am) real sick with a cold. So I slept in and then went shopping - very slowly. It was sort of nice to be by myself and go at my own pace. Wow. That sounds like an old woman. Or just a sick Tab.
It's not just me though. I'm pretty sure everyone I know is sick. Get better already!

Tuesday's Dead

Last night after our show, All Skate invited our sit-in to join the team as a for real member. It was the super cute, improv equivalent of a proposal.
He said yes!

Yesterday was Rosh Hashanah, so ITI had to do Jew things with Dan. Also we made up a dance.
