It's been forever since I did one. The last time was 7 months ago, on March 5th in the level 4 showcase.
Rehearsing last night was like jumping into water and then realizing it's ice cold.
I love the Harold, I truly truly do. But there are things I haven't practiced in so long that I felt a little chaotic trying to do one. I think my former 5b-ers felt that way too. After all, everyone else in the group has been doing Harolds for the past 2(?) schedules.
Scenework is scenework, but it's the other things that were a shock to come back to. Like the group games. To me these can either be the most fun or the most muddled. My favorite games are the ones that don't involve standing and staring at each other or, as Joe Bill calls it, the "half circle of doom".
I think I just love the sense of play and freedom that can come with doing anything besides that.
A Holly quote popped into my head after rehearsing, "It's just another tool for your tool belt". I'd forgotten all about it. I've forgotten so much.
And suddenly, I think I understand why Jon DeWalt re-took Level 4...
