Costume Testing

Last night was my second rehearsal with the WAS cast. I'm pretty excited about the show, there are some super funny and talented ladies. The show is a musical about a 90's girl group that reunites years later. I am playing the daughter of one of the band members.
Our director, Ashley, gave us costume homework. I've started testing hair options. I really like the faux hawk, but I'm still testing some other things out.

Brown Line to the Loop.

In the summer I try to take the train as much as possible.
Since people are out more and there are many Cubs games, it's usually easier than driving. Especially now that parking meter rates have gone up. Honestly, who carries 3 dollars in quarters with them at all times?

Last night I used the train to head to The Playground for an All Skate show. We ended up having a great show, definitely one of our best. The team is starting to really gel and I think we have our new coach, George, to thank for that. Unfortunately he wasn't at the show last night, so he didn't get to see the work paying off.

After a quick drink, I raced home to catch the Messiest Home in the Country special on Style. It was hor-rif-ic. Spoiler Alert: There was so much stuff in this tiny house that they had to rent an empty department store to have the yard sale. I watch the show on a regular basis, but this was the very first time I have seen someone have a room that was wall to wall, floor to ceiling, packed with clutter.

Here is the BEFORE of their basement:
(The picture doesn't really even do it justice, there was literally no where to move when they were in there.)

And here is the AFTER:

If you see that they are re-running this special (or any of the 6 runner up episodes), have a watch. It will give you a sudden urge to clean out your closet. At least, that's what I did.

The L&L

Last night The Rabble had our last show with Tim. He is moving back to Texas and then on to LA in a few years.
We had a super fun show, but it's sad to see Tim leave. He & I trained together at Four Day Weekend and then moved here at about the same time. We went through iO and The Annoyance together. I know I will still get to see him when I visit Texas, but it will be weird to not see him here.
He and I have had some of my all time favorite improv scenes and I think I will be pitching one of them for the house ensemble review. With Tim's blessing of course.

So goodbye Tim, drive safe, and I will miss you.

Temping

I must be making a decent impression at my temp assignments. The last client gave me a glowing review and today the new client asked me if I was available for the rest of the week.
Now if only one of them would hire me for keeps.

Parrots

A friend asked me to be part of a Bat for a podcast.
We did the recording tonight and afterwards had some drinks at Parrots.

When we arrived, the reaction of the bartender was welcoming but the patrons didn't look happy. Soon after we settled in, they all left.
We were not a rowdy group or even loud, but somehow we killed their party.

Sculpture at DFW airport

Waiting in the airport for my flight to board.
The flight before mine (to Toronto) was delayed, ours was as well. I'm not sure if it was because we shared a terminal with them or not.

I overheard the Toronto passengers discussing their delay.
P1: They said it's because someone tampered with the safety seals, so now they have to replace all of them.
P2: [Annoyed sigh.]
P3: Well how LONG is it going to BE?

Excuse me? Someone tampered with your plane and your concern is the delay? If this was my plane I would say take all the time you need, take all day. I might not even get on the plane now.

I don't know how long it ended up taking, because my flight switched gates. I assume that everything was fine.

Four Day Weekend

I went to see the Four Day guys late show, but it turned out they had an even later show for a graduation buy out.
I talked them for a bit, but then they had to scurry away before the kids showed up.
It was nice to see them, if only for a moment.
